Artist Spotlight: Derek Day
Derek Day was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He infuses the power of rock 'n' roll and multiple other genres (R&B, Soul, Punk and Pop) as he engages and captivates audiences with his natural theatricality. He's on the lead, licky, riffy electric guitar to accompany his gritty, soulful contralto vocals.
The rising, multitalented creative rocker Derek Day returns fresh off last fall’s “Click on Me” collaboration with Living Colour’s Vernon Reid for a new year and a new chapter with his latest single, “Fine Lines.” It’s an eclectic yet heartfelt ballad from the artist who Premier Guitar’s Kate Koenig describes as “ambitious, hot-wired, and frying the fretboard,” possessing “guitar work with fangs, slightly overdriven and snarling…with metal-esque vocals that could kill.
“Fine Lines” will make its worldwide debut on February 25th and is available on streaming platforms and YouTube. Listeners will experience the kind of virtuoso sound Classic Rock Magazine credits to “an experimental rock maverick, boosted by weapons-grade guitar chops and seemingly unshakeable confidence.”
