New Release: Montauban - ‘Black River’
Montauban is an alternative rock trio from Quebec, Canada — three childhood friends whose love for music kept them together for the better part of four decades. After years of parallel musical journeys, they finally explored what they might sound like together.
In the spring of 2024, LP Grenier (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Yann Do (bass, guitars), and Mick Marceau (drums) retreated to LP's cottage on Montauban Lake for a week of jamming in the woods. The instrumental foundation of Black River was recorded there, in a place that carries real meaning for the three of them. The vocals followed a year later, in the fall of 2025.
Influenced by everything from Pink Floyd to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Montauban plays alternative rock that doesn't rush to define itself. Black River is their eleven-track debut.
